On October 3, 2025, in Anchorage, Alaska, Michael Zug Messick passed away at the age of 86, from natural causes.

Mike was born, September 19, 1939, in Sellersville, Pennsylvania to George and Monica Messick. He grew up on the east coast and graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University, in South Dakoda. After graduation, Mike joined the Army. He was honorably discharged and continued to serve his country by joining the National Guard.

Mike became a Broker/Realtor for REMAX and after 40 years in the profession, was honored by the National Association of Realtors and bestowed the status of Realtor Emeritus in recognition of his valuable and lasting contributions to the community.

It was in Anchorage that Mike met and married Alice T. McCormack. Mike enjoyed softball, skiing, traveling and a good glass of wine. Mike attained a certification as a master gardener and had great pride in his gardens. Mike and Alice were a social couple and loved dinner parties and holiday gatherings with family and close friends. Mike was a pet lover and throughout the years had both dogs and cats. Some of his adventures with Moochie and Girlsie are now family legend.

Mike is survived by his sister Peggy Johnson, his stepson Todd McCormack, granddaughters Brittany Evans and Breanna Ness, and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife Alice Messick, his brother Jim Messick, and his sister Bonnie Smith.
