Michael E. Grady
May 10, 1952 -
Apr 21, 2026
Michael let his spirit go April 21, 2026, in Pahoa, Hawaii. Born on May 10, 1952, in Louisiana, he was one of seven siblings. The family moved to California in 1962, where he graduated and soon took off for adventure on the hitchhike highway to Alaska. He found himself in Seward and hustled a job onto a research vessel for two years before getting himself kicked off for bringing girls aboard. He then found himself in Girdwood with his famous canine buddy "Penguin," where he worked odd jobs and did remote surveying for the State of Alaska all while skiing, mountain biking, rafting and backcountry adventures for 20 years. Later, he got the "great" idea to join a group in Hawaii and grow marijuana ... until the wild pigs kept on arriving for a party. After four years it was back to Alaska with his new canine buddy "Azul," and a job at Chugach Electric, where he retired. After retirement he moved to Cave Junction, Ore., with his canine girl "Rainy." Michael had a life of wild adventure, wild women and friends just as crazy as himself. Good times, good fun and quite a few mistakes along the way.
Everyone new Michael was the guy who had everything useful in his pack if they didn't. He spent many years refurbishing and customizing mountain bikes as well as back country equipment. So wherever his spirit landed on this next journey - Rock on Michael!
Michael is survived by siblings, Bill Grady, Pat Carr and Bonnie Davies, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Callie and Billy Joe Grady; and siblings, Larry Grady, Kathy Grady Doberneck and Colleene Grady Miller.
Memorial donations can be made to the Illinois Garden Club in Cave Junction in Michael's memory.
