Master Sergeant William L. Dill

Master Sergeant William L. Dill, "Top/Dee", 68, passed away April 18, 2023, at Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska.

William was born to parents Melvin C. Dill Sr. and Dorothy L. Dill on Dec. 11, 1954, in Chester, Pa. He began his 20-year military career and enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps in January 1972, winning numerous awards, medals and recognitions. William then worked for the Anchorage School District's JROTC program. During this tenure, he acquired his associate degree in arts and applied science. William kept active in his community as a Medicare volunteer extraordinaire! He also enjoyed spending time playing poker, baseball, riflery and pool.

William was loved by everyone and everybody unconditionally. He was an all-around kind of guy. Sweet, funny, yet firm. Once you met him, you never forgot him. He left footprints everywhere he went. He gave his all to his family, friends, his work and his country.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia A. Dill of Anchorage; son, Clarence Walker of Indianapolis, Ind.; daughters, Stephanie M. Dill of Houston, Texas, and Donita C. Dill of Stafford, Va.; mother, Dorothy L. Dill; brothers, LaFenus Derrickson, Melvin C. Dill Jr., Kevin L. Dill and Darnell Dill, all of Chester; sisters, Sandra Peterson, Melva C. Dill-Jenkins and Eva M. Dill-Smith, all of Chester; sister-in-love, Lenora Dill of Chester; brother-in-love, Douglas L. Smith of Chester; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, family and friends.

He was preceded by his father, Melvin C. Dill Sr.; and brothers, Martin T. Dill and John E. Derrickson.

A public visitation will be held on April 28, 2023, from 12–1 p.m., at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 855 East 20th Avenue in Anchorage. Service will follow from 1–2 p.m. Pallbearers: Clarence Walker, Douglas Smith, Michael Keith, Michael Langdon, Dawayne Miller, Ray Warner, Robert Tucker and Tyrone Davis.

He will be laid to rest at Haven Memorial in Chester Township.
