Mary Ellen Tuttle
Oct 25, 1930 -
Aug 14, 2021
Mary Ellen Tuttle passed peacefully from this earth on Aug. 14, 2021, in Boise, Idaho. Mary was born to Ralph and Leona Smeltzer on Oct. 25, 1930, in Mull, Ark.
As a child Mary traveled the west coast with her parents and sister Eula, working in orchards and fields harvesting fruit. It was a hard life, but it was a life filled with love and good memories. While traveling from one crop to another Mary would dream of someday seeing the many places she studied in school. And she did - our mom was adventurous and fearless!
Mary married the love of her life, John Tuttle, on April 6, 1949, in Gleed, Wash. They moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in late 1949. Over the years they lived in Anchorage, Yakima, Wash., and Incapuquio, Peru, before finally settling in Wickenburg, Ariz., for their "Golden Years." In Wickenburg they enjoyed the friendship of many wonderful neighbors, camping in their RV and traveling the world. John and Mary visited many countries on every continent in the world, except Antarctica - Mary did not like the cold!
Mary is survived by her daughter, Diana Lund and son-in-law, David Lund of Meridian, Idaho; son, Douglas Tuttle of Homer, Alaska; beloved grandchildren, Matthew Lund of Anchorage, and Kyle Clay, Krista Clay and Kasey Clay of Yakima; and great-grandsons, Kayden Clay and Rawley Pace. She was preceded in death by John in 2018; daughter, Debra Tuttle in 2006; sister, Eula Mae Smeltzer; and parents Ralph and Leona Smeltzer.
At her request, there will be no memorial or service. Her ashes, together with John's and Debra's, will be scattered at a special place in Alaska next summer.
