Loretta Lorraine Hall
Oct 15, 1941 -
Jan 9, 2026
Cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Jan. 9, 2026, in Anchorage, Alaska, due to complications from Alzheimer's. She was 84 years old.
Born 1941, in Jackson, Mich., to Lawrence Lewis and Cecile Alice Bunker, Loretta was the oldest of three, with two brothers.
She grew up in Jackson, attending Marshall High, graduating in 1960. Loretta's family moved to Alaska via the Alaska Highway in 1960, to homestead in Willow. She followed shortly after, making Alaska her lifetime home.
While participating in a beauty pageant at the Alaska State Fair in Palmer, she met her soon-to-be husband, Larry Hall; they married on Fort Richardson Army Base in 1961.
They happily raised their family in Alaska until her passing.
Loretta possessed many talents including crafting, sewing and cake designs. She made clothes and costumes for her children and grandchildren for holidays, plays and special occasions.
Loretta was best known for her cake baking and designs, especially her beautifully crafted and delicious wedding cakes.
Loretta's most cherished role was that of wife, mother, grandmother and "GG." Raising her family and serving her Lord Jesus was her passion.
For over 55 years she volunteered with her husband Larry at the Anchorage Baptist Temple - now called MCC - participating in the preparation of the Lords Supper and serving as a Sunday school secretary.
Loretta's passing leaves a tremendous void in the lives of family and friends and will be profoundly missed.
However, her family takes comfort knowing we will see her again someday because of her faith and trust in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Loretta was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Lawrence "Larry" Hall; parents, Lawrence "Larry" and Cecile Bunker; brother, Larry Allen "Al" (Pam) Bunker; and numerous extended family.
She is survived by her children: son, James (Rebecca) Hall; daughter, Gerrie (Michael) Brock; daughter, Christine Hall; grandchildren, Jesse Hall, Timothy Carpenter, Justin Hall, Kathryn (Tiger) Hall, Jared Hall and Colony Hannon; great-grandchildren, Analisa and Zoe; brother, James (Hilda) Bunker; and many cousins and friends. Memorial to be held at Mountain City Church on June 13, 2026, at 2 p.m.
Interment will be on Fort Richardson National Cemetery alongside her husband Larry.
Special thanks to Queen of Hearts ALF, for the exceptional kindness provided to our mother while in their care.
