Larry "Mike" Rogers

Jun 13, 1942 -

Apr 15, 2023

Larry Michael "Mike" Rogers, son of L. P. Fuzzy and Dorothy Rogers, passed away in his home on Sundi Lake in Anchorage, Alaska, surrounded by his family on April 15, 2023.

He was born a third generation Alaskan on June 13, 1942. He spent most of his life as Alaskans do, hunting, fishing, snowmachining, hot-rodding and flying around the state. He had a passion in his early years for going fast and living a simple life while exploring the beauties of Alaska.

He was one of the first generation to be born at Providence Hospital in 1942, he got a whooping as a 4-year-old riding his tricycle down 4th Avenue before it was paved, and graduated in the last class of Anchorage High School.

His family moved to Sundi Lake as a teenager, where his buddies would drag race their hot rods for titles on Sand Lake Road next to the then potato fields.

In 1969, he moved his family to Big Lake, Alaska, creating many memories, then off to Hawaii in 1979 on a coffee farm till 1983, landing back at his family home till his passing.

His family is grateful that he was used through God's Sovereignty in sharing the gospel message of Jesus with us.

Mike is survived by his four children, Michelle Ralston, Lori Kniceley, Todd Rogers and Coral Mahoney, and their spouses; 20 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

We are opening his longtime home at 4808 Sundi Drive in Anchorage on May 6, 2023, at 3 p.m., for an afternoon of hunting stories, fishing tales and shared memories of his life. There will be some of his favorite foods to eat and a variety of drinks. Feel free to bring a dish to share.
