Keith L. Stark
Dec 20, 1949 -
Jul 16, 2025
We lost a good man on July 16, 2025. Keith Stark was a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather and neighbor who could be counted on to enthusiastically help with any task that needed to be done and he could fix anything. He is already greatly missed by all who knew him.
Keith was born in Sacramento, Calif., on Dec. 20, 1949, and passed away following a short illness surrounded by family on July 16, 2025, in a Billings, Mont., hospital.
Keith served proudly in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. For many years he was the owner of Stark-Lewis Roofing Company, which his father and uncle founded in Anchorage, Alaska. After leaving Alaska, he continued working in the roofing industry in Hawaii for four years, which was a lifelong dream. His next adventure took him to California, where he joined Vicki Swank. A new career opportunity became available as a commercial truck driver. That led to many interesting long-haul destinations in a totally new occupation. During this time, he and Vicki moved to Las Vegas, where they were married in a quiet ceremony on Nov. 28, 2013.
While living in Nevada, Keith would travel with his older brother, Niles, to Montana to go hunting, which led to eventually Keith and Vicki purchasing a dream property in Montana. This is where he could continue his love of hunting, fishing, gardening, landscaping, raising bees and relaxing in the rural beauty of Montana. He and Vicki would take off at a moment's notice to explore this beautiful state that reminded them of Alaska. Keith never tired of telling people about Alaska!
Keith volunteered his time in his community as an active member of their neighborhood water board association. He was the man to call when problems came up.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, George and Betty Stark; and his brother, Don Stark. Keith is survived by his wife of 11 years, Vicki Swank; daughters, Julie Stark Warren (Andrew), Amanda Stark Smoak (Jonathan) and Jennifer Stark Twing (Shannon); nephew, Anthony Stark (Amandah); brothers, Niles Rawls (Jeanette) and Richard Stark (Dorothea); and sister, Kathy Stark Batey (Jim). He is also survived by nine grandchildren.
A memorial service will be livestreamed Sept. 20, 2025, at 11 a.m. (MST). To access the livestream service, go to: awsfuneralhome.com and link to Keith Stark obituary. On Monday, Sept. 22, 2025, a military honor service will be held at the Montana State Cemetery in Helena, at Ft. Harrison Military Base.
