John James Sheridan

Jan 18, 1944 -

Jan 14, 2025

John James Sheridan was born in Moyne, County Longford, Ireland, to John and Mary Anne (Feeney) Sheridan in January 1944.

John was a proud Vietnam veteran who made his way west from Ireland to New York and all the way to Alaska.

He was a demolition expert with the Laborers Union who blasted and drilled all throughout Alaska, including many small villages. Expanding the Whittier tunnel and improvements on the Seward Highway were just some of the projects that he was involved in. He loved to drive his VW camper van, enjoying driving and fishing all over Alaska. Music, dancing and a great time with friends and family was always a passion. He traveled the world visiting relatives and never missed a family occasion or a wedding. John will be deeply missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know him.

A funeral mass will be held in John's honor at Holy Family Cathedral in Anchorage, Alaska, at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025, followed by burial at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.
