James William "Kahuna" Moore, 84, of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away on Sept. 10, 2025, from complications due to West Nile virus. he will be remembered for his generous spirit and his guiding motto: Love thy neighbor.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Ronald.

James is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Joyce; his son, James; his brother, Orvel; and his sister, Wanda Fiorino. Grandsons Chase and Vincent. Grand Daughters Jessica, Megan, Danielle, Courtney, Jadyn, Kendra, and Shelby. 3 Great grandsons and 5 Great granddaughters.

James owned and operated Chevron service stations for 40 years. For 68 years he built, raced, and customized motor vehicles—cars, boats, motorcycles, snowmobiles, and even golf carts. He was honored to be in the Alaska raceway park Hall of fame. James was an avid golfer for 42 years, honing his game to a single digit handicap. He very much enjoyed the comradery and competition he found while playing in many tournaments and at the men's club.

Known as a reliable, strong leader who met life head on, he lived on his own terms working, racing, golfing, and travelling all at full speed.

He will be genuinely missed by all who he touched in this life.

"May God watch over and guide you to your next adventure Kahuna"
