James Miller, age 64, of Palmer, Alaska, passed away unexpectedly in Fairbanks, Alaska, on Dec. 6, 2022.
James was born on Aug. 19, 1958, in New Castle, Wyo. After growing up in Montana, James enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving from 1975-1977, specializing in electronics. After his service he found his calling in construction work. His dedicated and hardworking attitude were a perfect fit, as well as giving him opportunities through the years to work on projects with his brothers. James was motivated in all he pursued, which attributed to him working his way up to being project superintendent. In his free time you could find him hunting, fishing, riding horses or relaxing at home watching one of his favorites such as Secretariat, or House. In the summer he would be in his garden or at his property in Sutton, Alaska. Everyone knew him as loving, generous, witty and always giving 110%. More than anything, he loved being a dad and grandpa, and made sure everyone knew how proud he was of his family.
James is survived by his most recent spouse, Kathy Miller(Krieder); first wife and mother of his children, Sherry Maillard; children, Sarah Evers (Tom) of New Plymouth, Idaho, Vanessa Evers (Chad) of Vale, Ore., and Andrew Miller (Charity) of Hubert, N.C.; stepchildren, Jackie, Megan, and Morgan Helgesen; grandchildren, Thomas Evers (Rachel) of Ontario, Ore., Kaitlin Evers of New Plymouth, and Ethan, Makenzie, Henry and Malaya Evers of Vale; and siblings, Terry Fike (Patty), Daryl Fike, Missy Nelson and Mike Miller (Linda).
James was laid to rest at Glacier Memorial Cemetery in Kalispell, Mont., as he requested, near his family. James will be forever loved, forever missed and forever in our hearts. He was a God fearing man, baptized in his Christian faith, and is waiting for us in heaven with Jesus.
