Longtime Anchorage, Alaska, resident Jack A. St. Denis Jr., 86, passed from this life on April 11, 2021, surrounded by his beloved wife and loving family.
The service will be held on April 23, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 2901 Huffman Road, Anchorage, AK 99516; Viewing will be held at 3 p.m. and Service at 4 p.m. The burial will take place on July 13, 2021, at 3 p.m., at Angelus Memorial Park, 440 East Klatt Road, Anchorage, AK 99516.
Jack was born on Jan. 17, 1935, in Yuma, Ariz., to Jack and Eloise St. Denis Sr. He attended Riis High School, where he lettered in football, 1949-1950. He served in the Army and is a Korean War Veteran, 1950-1952. He received the Army of Occupation Medal, Japan and the Korean Service Medal.
He married the love of his life, Marlene, on Feb. 19, 1955. They moved their family to Alaska in June 1967. Jack worked as a pipefitter and welder for the Local 367 until he started his own company, PEMCO Corporation. Jack was a strong supporter of St. Jude's Hospital for Children.
His family wrote: "Jack spent his life providing for his family. He was generous to all who knew him. Jack was a dedicated husband, father and Papa. He will leave a hole that can never be filled in our hearts but our wonderful memories will carry us forward. Rest in peace 'Sugar' until we are all reunited."
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Marlene St. Denis; five children, Arlene Van Ness, Steve (Renae) St. Denis, Lori (Joe) Pfeifer, Karen (David) Goodman and Anita St. Denis (Chuck Taylor), all of Anchorage; nephew, Kevin (Sri) St. Denis of Washington; 16 grandchildren, Aletha (Paul), Christine (Matt), Daniel, Melissa, Cheryl (Craig), Anthony (Jesselynne), David Jr. Jessica (Cole), Garrett, Julie Ann (Ryan), Kaley, Frank, Jacob, Joshua, Phillip and Viennaetta; and 14 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Jack, Sean, Craig, Kirsten, Carlie, Kaitlyn, Nikole, Waylon, Eva, Elle, Nadine, Brekken and Aeris, all of Alaska.
Jack was preceded in death by his daughter, Catherine E. Hahn; parents, Jack and Eloise St. Denis Sr.; and brother, Joseph St. Denis.
