George M. Hansen

George Mack Hansen died at home in Wasilla, Alaska, on March 19, 2022, of causes incident to age. George was born on Nov. 18, 1928, in Sacramento, Calif., to Florence Francis Daniels and George Henry Hansen. From California, they moved to Idaho then Salt Lake City, Utah, where he started school.

He married Francell Peterson in 1949 in Reno, Nev., and was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. After the birth of their second daughter, Francell passed away and George was left a widower with two daughters, Sherie and Donna K. While on a work assignment in Los Angles, Calif., he met Theresa Kindya Brittain and her son Dennis. They married in El Paso, Texas, and were later sealed in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple. In 2009, he and Theresa moved to Medford, Ore., where Theresa died. In 2015, he married Gloria Ann Schaefermeyer Parret.

George worked in seven different careers, including several military positions, an engineer, and many years as a well-known dentist in California and Anchorage, Alaska.

George was an active member in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many church positions including Bishop and working with the Boy Scouts, for which he received the Silver Beaver Award. His hobbies included flying private airplanes, riding motorcycles, fishing, hunting and genealogy.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Hansen; sister, Pat Hansen; children, Dennis Brittain, Sherie Peterson and Donna K. Martin and their spouses; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
