Dorothy A. Moore

Dorothy Moore, Anchorage, Alaska resident, passed away on Sept. 14, 2022.

Dorothy was born in Wagoner, Okla., to Archie and Mamie Hill. Her mother died shortly after birth, and she was raised by Zettie and PJ Bowie in Tulsa, Okla. Dorothy was reunited with her bio dad and siblings during her elementary years and enjoyed a loving relationship with them.

In 1964, she married Ernest Moore they were married until his passing in 2010. In 1965, they moved to Palm Springs, Calif., where Dorothy began her career with JC Penney. She retired from the Anchorage store 1998. The highlight of her career was meeting Mr. JC Penney himself.

The family moved to Anchorage in 1979. Dorothy loved to host her Alaska friends/family for dinners. She was known for her fun house/table decorations and place settings. She enjoyed watching Law and Order, Blue Bloods, collecting decorative bells and ladybug-themed items.

She was a loving mom, devoted spouse and great mother-in-law.

She leaves her daughter, Michelle Moore-Jones (Harold Jones) of Anchorage; stepson, Otto C. Moore of Oahu, Hawaii; best friend, Thelma Ware of Palm Springs, Calif.; Evelyn Bumpers of Tulsa; her "children," Nate (Hilda) Castillo of Bartlesville, Okla., and Martina Gales (Jeff) of Fort Worth, Texas; granddaughter, Letricia (Jared) Baxley of Glenn Dale, Md.; family friends, Marquita McAllister (Juan) of Las Vegas, Nev., Diane Brooks of Anchorage, Wanda Henry of Anchorage, and Lee (Pi) Williams of Wasilla, Alaska; and a host of nieces and nephews in California, Kansas and Missouri.

The family would like to thank the Ancora Hospice Team.

Per Dorothy's request, no services will be held. Dorothy will be buried alongside her husband at Fort Richardson National Cemetery in Anchorage.
