Donn J. Reese, 59, passed away on April 18, 2026, in Anchorage, Alaska, the city where he was born on Oct. 31, 1966. A lifelong Alaskan, Donn's life was marked by his dedication to his career, his passions and the people he held dear.

Donn is survived by his husband, David Nolta, they shared 31 loving years. Their enduring partnership was a cornerstone of Donn's life. He is also survived by his sister, Lisa C. Mitchell, who he regretted losing contact with and had hoped to regain a renewed connection; stepfather, Larry Montgomery; close life friends, Jennifer Griggs (husband Chet) and Martin Hermansen (wife Karin); as well as many cousins and friends in Alaska, Washington, and across the Lower 48. Donn cherished these relationships deeply and valued the connections he made throughout his life.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Arthur and Eva Reese; mother, Laura Reese; uncle, Terry Reese; cousin, Aaron Reese; and father, David Harrison.

Donn spent over three decades as a drafter with the same engineering company. He began his career at USKH and continued with the firm after it was acquired by Stantec. His commitment to his work reflected his responsible and caring nature, qualities that extended into all aspects of his life.

Donn had a wide array of interests that brought him joy and connected him to others who shared his passions. A member of the Antique Auto Mushers of Alaska, he owned two classic cars: a 1960 Chrysler Imperial and a 1976 Chrysler New Yorker. His love for history, particularly Alaska history and World War II, was another defining aspect of his life. Donn also had an appreciation for jazz music, mid-century modern pop culture, science fiction - especially Star Trek and Doctor Who - British television and a good show tune.

In addition to these hobbies, Donn enjoyed RVing, boating and spending time with his dogs, Jack, Edgar and Benji, who were constant companions in his life.

Donn's warmth and dedication left an indelible mark on those who knew him. May memories of him bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.

There will be a celebration of life on Aug. 1, 2026, from 1-4 p.m., at the Hope Learning Center, 570 West 53rd Avenue, Anchorage, AK 99518.
