Donald G. Jordan

On Dec. 15, 1953, Donald Gene Jordan was born in Huntsville, Ala., to the late Louis and Mildred Jordan.

Donald accepted Christ at an early age. He received his education from Lee High School in Huntsville, Ala. In 1972, he went on to enlist in the United States Army, where he served as a mechanic during the Vietnam War until he was honorably discharged in 1974 and became a civil-service employee.

He had a passion for shooting pool, listening to music, cooking, eating, fishing and spending time with his family. His greatest joys in life were his children, grandchildren and family. He was proud of his family and loved them with all his heart and soul. He was known for his quick wit, infectious smile, kind and compassionate spirit and old military stories.

Donald departed this life on Saturday, July 4, 2020, at Providence Alaska Medical Center, at the age of 66, and left to cherish his memory are his mother, Mildred Jordan; sister, Tina Clinton; brothers, Michael, Jerry and Kenneth Jordan of Anchorage, Alaska; his life partner, Lindy Jordan of Anchorage; his daughter and son, Sasha and De'Shay Jordan of San Antonio, Texas; stepdaughters, Tinishia Cummings (Erik) of Laurel, Md., and Qiana Amerson of St. Louis, Mo.; his grandchildren, Moshi, Monyai, Kyleah, Mariela, Taymar, Kory, Michael, Dante, Trevon, Kiara, Tyler and KaMara; great-grandchildren, Ziyel, Peyton, Syncere, Karson and Matayla; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and family from Huntsville and Chicago, Ill.

He is preceded in death by his father, Louis Jordan; brother, David Jordan; grandparents, aunts and uncles.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 20, 2020, at 11 a.m., at New Hope Baptist Church, 333 North Price Street, Anchorage, AK 99508. Following, a service will be held at 12 p.m.; Reverend Wilbert L. Mickens Jr. will preside.
