Donald Keeley Dowd, age 70, of Chickaloon, Alaska, died of leukemia in Seattle, Wash. It snowed in Seattle on his last day.
Don was happy with his 70 years. He was born and raised in Redding, Calif. When he was a young man, he moved to Alaska, seeking adventure. Downhill skiing, snowmachining, flying and, now, golf were his passions. He loved Alaska and his home in Chickaloon.
Don started North Star Excavation & Asphalt in Palmer, Alaska. His son Joey took over the business and Don was very proud of his success.
His mother, Marjorie Keeley's family were Pioneers of California. His father, Raymond Dowd, was from Grass Valley, Calif. Don's two older brothers are Philip, deceased, and Gerald of Chico, Calif.
He leaves his wife of 43 years and golfing partner, Susan; son, Joey; and grandsons, Jaxon and Ryland, he cherished.
