Christy L. Iverson

It is with tremendous sorrow that we announce the very sudden and unexpected loss of Christy L. Iverson. She passed away on May 13, 2023, at the age of 63. Our lives will never be the same without her.

Christy was born on May 30, 1959, in Oakdale, Calif., to Virgil and Evelyn Knight. The family moved to Alaska in 1973, where she met her husband Donald G. Iverson in 1974. She graduated from SAVE High School in 1977, and married Donald on July 8, 1977. They had four: children Nathan, Jennifer, Donald B. and Jessica.

They moved to Spokane, Wash., for a very short time before moving to the Gig Harbor/Port Orchard area.

She started her career at PTI/CenturyLink for 10 years before moving to Peninsula Light Co. for the last 22 years, moving thru the ranks and ending with a directorship over two different departments.

She loved her job and the people she worked with, including the many friends she made over the past 35 years in the Gig Harbor area.

Christy was an avid gardener and she loved to just sit in the sun next to her flower beds and weed and primp her flowers.

Christy loved her family very much and will be deeply missed by them.

Christy is survived by her husband, Donald G. Iverson; children, Nathan and wife Kelly of Pittsburgh, Pa., Jennifer of Port Orchard, Donald B of Columbus, Ohio, and Jessica of Kingston, Wash.; grandchildren, Kaia, Athena and August; sisters, Carol, Claudia, Cathy, Cheri and Coleen; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by son, Donald G. Iverson II; father and mother, Virgil and Evelyn Knight; and father-in-law, Douglas Iverson.

A service will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church, 151 Tremont Street W, Port Orchard, WA 98366, on July 11, 2023, at 1p.m.
