Sep 14, 2025

Carl Dean Collier, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away on Sept. 14, 2025, at the age of 87, in Bird Creek, Alaska — the place he proudly called home.

Carl was born on May 31, 1938, in Orange, Calif., to Ira Collier and Mary Collier (Graham). From a young age, he learned the value of hard work and craftsmanship alongside his father, developing skills that would become a lifelong passion. A talented wood craftsman, stoneworker and carpenter, Carl's handiwork reflected both his precision and his heart.

He was a giving, loving, happy and gentle soul, who deeply cherished his family and friends. Carl loved his mother dearly, and that devotion shaped the kind and steady presence he became for others. Throughout his life, he built and maintained close, lifelong friendships that he treasured greatly.

Carl's love for Alaska was profound — it was where his spirit thrived and his heart truly belonged.

Carl is survived by his children, Tamara Kibbe (Collier), John Collier and Carey Collier; Carey's wife, Jill Collier; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Collier and Mary Lassley; and brother, Jerry Collier.

Carl will be remembered for his generosity, warmth and the quiet strength he brought to those around him. His legacy lives on in the family he loved and the friendships he nurtured.

He will forever be bound to his home in Alaska, where the bears roared and the creek glimmered. A man known for his love for nature and everything it provided — now being his eternal home.

Carl's celebration will be tentatively held in Bird Creek on Aug. 1, 2026.
