Byron "Bruce" Bibee

Jan 3, 1945 -

Aug 31, 2020

Byron "Bruce" Bibee moved on from this plane of existence on Aug. 31, 2020, at the age of 75, by way of natural causes. He had always proclaimed he wanted to pass while in the wilderness; he passed peacefully in his sleep on a hunting trip at Tangle Lakes, Alaska.

Bruce was born to Jacquelyn Marcene Bibee and Byron Dale Bibee on Jan. 3, 1945, in Monterey, Calif. After much wandering, he found home in Alaska in 1968, where he later opened the Kung-Fu San Soo Center and Bruce Bibee Counseling. He was a feminist, father, uncle, shaman, lifelong learner, mentor, elder, Kung Fu master and healer. He was beloved by many.

He is succeeded by his children, Jason Dale, Kevin John, Brandon James and Morgan Rose; his siblings and extended family and friends, by whom he was relied upon for guidance and wisdom; and by the countless clients and students he helped in his more than 40 years of work.

Some of his last words were that he "tried to get people to not take life too seriously."

There will be a Zoom service (ID: 752 7920 4427) on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020, at 3 p.m. AKDT. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to STAR or the ACLU.
