Longtime Seward, Alaska, resident Mrs. Betty Maudeen Moore, 76, died on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2025, at her home in Seward with her family by her side.

No services are planned at this time.

Maudeen was born March 13, 1949, in Portland, Ore. She moved to Alaska in 1977, where she lived in Seward the whole time. Maudeen loved crafting, bird watching and wildflowers.

The family wrote: "Maudeen was a wife and mother first and foremost, always putting her family first, filling us with love and a lasting friendship. Her joy of having family pets was unwavering. She shared her love of her home state, Oregon, through family vacations; she shared her passion for Alaska through family camping trips, long hikes, wildflower hunting and long road trips. Her friends will remember her for her love of wildflowers. Mom, you may have left the physical world, but you will always be in our hearts, our thoughts and our lives."

She is survived by her husband, Michael Moore of Seward; sons, Erik Moore of Seward, and David Nuxall of Anchorage, Alaska; daughter, Michelle Drong of Golden, Colo.; sister, Kay Thomas of Pasco, Wash.; and granddaughter, Maya Gary of Golden.
