Archie Stepp

Aug 26, 2026

Archie Stepp passed away peacefully on Aug. 26, 2026, surrounded by the friends and family who meant so much to him.

Born in October 1937 in Bernalillo, N.M., Archie arrived in Alaska in August 1958. Alaska became his home, and over the many decades that followed, he built a life here filled with family, friendships, hard work and countless memories. A longtime Spenard resident since 1968, Archie spent much of his working life as a contractor serving the community of Unalaska. Through his many years there, he formed strong connections and made many lifelong friends.

Archie shared 48 years of marriage with Querida Stepp. In his later years, he shared his life and companionship with Cindy Olsen. Above all, family held a special place in Archie's heart. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Jimy Evans and Casey Dintzner, as well as his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His daughter, Trina Stepp, preceded him in death.

Archie is also survived by his brother, Larry Stepp. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jacque Sullivan, Sammy Gianini and Tommy Stepp.

Archie will be remembered for his generous and caring nature, his willingness to lend a hand and the way he made people feel welcome. He worked hard, cared deeply for those around him and formed friendships that endured through the years. His life touched many people, and those who had the privilege of knowing him will carry their own memories and stories of Archie with them.

Though he will be greatly missed, Archie leaves behind a legacy in the family he loved, the friendships he made and the many lives he touched during his years in Alaska.

A celebration of Archie's life will be held at 5 p.m. on Sept. 9, 2026, at Gwennie's Old Alaska Restaurant in Anchorage.
